1) White People ratio through the roof - there is one semi-constant WoC character on the periphery of the main cast. Becky Love played by Cush Jumbo. There are two main men in the cast, she’s the girlfriend of one of them. Another periphery character lives in a building across the street from Tess Roberts (played by Fiona Button) and is the potential love-interest that she pines for.

2) The episode I watched last night from season 1 was a surprise birthday planning for Tess and the theme is proposed as “Dykes of Hazard.” And when they finally have the party scene it’s the Cowboys and Indians situation. With plaid and jean and hats, then face paint and feathers and headbands. Puke. Also was weird seeing that because it was British television, but I guess that’s the power of US TV and movies.

3) All rich folks. Which, ok is most TV characters ever. They have amazing access to perfect apartments and high fashion and good jobs and drugs and etc etc etc.

4) It’s all very lesbian. I still haven’t watched the L-word, or well, any show with a mostly non-straight cast, but I suppose that’s probably typical of what gets represented in media. Frankie played by Ruta Gedmintas is like this punk, attitude-y character always having internal crises (most other characters seem to be suffering externally) but she’s still got a femme edge and gorgeous. Probably comparable to Shane from the L-word.

5) They’re all stick-thin and fit mainstream media’s ideals of beauty.

So well. I guess it’s like any show ever made ever. But cis-women getting it on. I like their accents.
