Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower.

This evening, I reached that point in the text where I got hooked. You know that point? It’s the moment when unexpectedly, the flairs of the author and the intrigue of the plot are so much more than they were in the pages preceding. I don’t quite know how to explain that moment…I’ve liked it from the beginning and it’s been burning me up, but it’s like when you blow on embers and the heat is all still there but it changes colors and feels hotter and kind of takes your breath away.

All I know is all this reading I’ve been doing lately has gotten me all wrapped up in my head, and I feel like a sponge, and the afternoon sunshine is really helping me soak it all up (the reading and the heat etc etc)
